With "Sparkling Science 2.0", the OeAD funds research projects on behalf of the BMBWF in which research and educational institutions and, as far as possible, civil society also cooperate and jointly contribute to the generation of innovative research results. If successfully funded, projects can start with the school year 2023/24.
From June 1, 2023, 12:00, eligible institutions can submit their project proposals to the OeAD via an electronic platform. The second round of calls for proposals will close on September 25, 2023, 12:00 noon.

Thematic focus
In the 2nd call, a thematic focus will be placed on the thematic areas of the EU missions of the EU research program "Horizon Europe". These address some of the greatest challenges of our time and, through their solutions, help to strengthen confidence in science throughout Europe. Projects that contribute to the content of these five missions will receive a maximum of one-third of the total call budget.
Online research partner exchange for networking
In order to help schools and research institutions and partners from industry and society to network, the OeAD is also providing an online research partner exchange as part of the 2nd Sparkling Science call. Use this offer to network with interested schools and partners or to express your interest in collaborating on a research project!

For the start of the call, the OeAD organises an online Q&A session on July 15, 2023, from 14:00 to 15:30. There, in addition to the key points of the call, reports of ongoing projects will be presented. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions.
