Before departure

Shortly before the end of your scholarship stay you will receive an e-mail from your Regional Office with a detailed list of all necessary steps before your departure.

We will ask you to submit a short scientific report (min. 2,500 and max. 6,000 characters without blank spaces) about your activities during your stay which will have to be signed by you and your academic supervisor. Please note that the scientific report and any additional documents have to be uploaded to our online portal STIP-Online.

You can use the following guiding questions when writing your report:

• What specifically did you work on during your scholarship stay in Austria? Which activities did you engage in as part of your research/studies (e.g. classes/courses, archive, laboratory, interviews, publications,..)?
• Have you achieved your initial study or research goals? Did you encounter any challenges along the way?
• Are you satisfied with the choice of your host institution and your place of study/research?

If you have completed an entire degree programme in Austria, please provide a brief summary of your academic thesis.

Please note: If your report does not provide sufficient information on your scientific activities during your stay, is too short or is not signed, it will be rejected. You will get the chance to correct your report once within the following 14 days. If you fail to comply with the reporting requirements, the final scholarship instalment will be withheld and repayment claims may apply.

The registration link to our online portal was sent out in an e-mail before your scholarship stay. If you have trouble logging back in, please contact us at stiponline-support@oead.at.

For questions concerning the steps before your departure please contact your Regional Office. Any questions for after your scholarship can be directed to alumni@oead.at.

The final scholarship instalment will be paid:

• from the 5^th of the last scholarship month, if your scholarship runs until the end of the month
• from the 16^th of the last scholarship month, if your scholarship runs until the 15th of the month

Payment will only be done upon submission of your scientific report. Your report needs to be signed by your academic supervisor.

The OeAD recommends that you translate your Austrian degree certificate into your national language and have it certified.

Attention: The authentication of documents can be quite expensive! You can find out whether certification is required for your home country from your embassy in Austria or from the relevant ministry in your home country.

Please de-register your place of residence at the registration office before departure.

Deadline Cancellation deadlines:
Cancellation of the registration: between 3 days before and 3 days after moving out.

For de-registration you need
• your valid ID card or passport,
• a completed residence de-registration form (Meldezettel/Guide for filling in the Meldezettel) and
• your birth certificate.

You will find the address of the competent registration office on the website of your Regional Office.

Insurance for OeAD scholars (via OeAD)

If you are insured with a partner of the OeAD-GmbH, the insurance contract will end automatically on the last day of your scholarship. If you leave Austria early or if you cancel your scholarship, the cancellation of the insurance will be done by the Regional Office. Please inform your Regional Office immediately if you decide to leave before the planned end date.

National health insurance

If you are insured through Austrian public health insurance you have to cancel it with this form and send it along with the confirmation of your de-registration of your place of residence to the National health insurance office.

Please do not forget to close your Austrian bank account before your departure (only if you opened a local account during your stay).
