Salzburg is the fourth-largest town in Austria and the capital of the federal state of Salzburg.

Its Old Town is internationally renowned for its baroque and Italian like architecture. It was listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The town has three universities and a large population of students. Tourists also visit Salzburg to tour the historic center and the scenic Alpine surroundings.

Salzburg was the birthplace of the famous 18th-century-composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Furthermore, the city is venue of a wide range of cultural events, especially the Salzburg Festival that takes place twice a year.
