Things to know about Graz

Graz is the provincial capital of Styria and the second largest City of Austria. As a university city more than 45.000 students are living in Graz.

The old city of Graz and the castle Schloss Eggenberg are since 1999 and 2010 respectively UNESCO-world cultural heritage sights. Since March 2011 Graz is also UNESCO City of Design within the Creative Cities Network.

The surrounding mountains of Graz (Buchkogel, Plabutsch, Hohe Rannach, Leber, Platte, Lustbühel), offer the possibility for small hikes with wonderful views on the city. Between the Grazer Hausberg Schöckl (1445 m) and the Hochlantsch (1720 m) is the Grazer Bergland with many gorges and caves like the Bärenschützklamm, the Kesselfallklamm or the Lurgrotte.
