Austrian Development Cooperation
The Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) supports countries in Africa, Asia, South Eastern and Eastern Europe as well as the Carribean in their sustainable development. The Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (MFA) plans ADC strategies. The Austrian Development Cooperation aims at reducing poverty, conserving natural resources and promoting peace and human security in partner countries. Long-term programmes and projects support help towards self-help.
The ultimate goal is to bring about a sustainable improvement in conditions of life. The Higher Education and Scientific Cooperation strategy was developed with a view to accomplishing two main goals:
- Respond to the international policy guidelines put forward in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Paris Declaration.
- Implement key conclusions and recommendations from the ADC’s 2007 evaluation of the education sector.
The strategy is intended to serve as a direct implementation instrument and encompasses the key measures for the next five years.
