Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is the capital of the Austrian province of Carinthia. With a population of approximately 100,000 inhabitants it is the largest city in Carinthia and the sixth largest in Austria. The city area is situated in the centre of the Klagenfurt basin and covers an area of 120 km². Today, Klagenfurt is home to the Carinthian provincial government, the district administration of Klagenfurt, the diocese of Gurk, the Alpen-Adria University, an international airport and numerous other institutions and companies.
Klagenfurt has an attractive city centre with squares and old town buildings as well as cultural offers. The Lake Wörthersee is very close, so Klagenfurt is also important for tourism. There is a lot to experience in the Renaissance town on Lake Wörthersee, surrounded by nature.
