At the beginning of each term new scholarship holders are invited to the OeAD house to join a welcome meeting and the AlumniTalks. The welcome event for our new scholarship holders took place on March 22nd. Michael Schedl, deputy head of the Centre for International Cooperation and Mobility (ICM), held a short welcome address, wished all new scholarship holders a successful beginning of their studies and gave a brief introduction of the OeAD. Katharina Engel presented relevant information concerning the scholarship and the stay in Austria. Before the start of the AlumniTalks a group photo session took place.

The Welcome event was followed by AlumniTalks, which give newcomers the chance to meet former scholarship holders who have successfully completed their scholarship stay in Austria and to show how the cooperation with Austria was continued. This time we invited Dana Linkeschová, who talked about "Teaching is my mission". Dana Linkeschová is a senior lecturer at the Institute of Structural Economics and Management, Faculty of Civil Engineering in Brno University of Technology. She specializes in personal management oriented subjects. During her career she has been teaching, doing research and managing people not only in lots of European countries but also for example in Australia, Russia, USA, Thailand, Israel, Kazachstan or Chechnya. Since 2007 Dana Linkeschová actively participates in the CEEPUS network „Teaching and learning Civil Engineering in European Context“. Every spring she holds lectures at the Technical University Vienna, Institute of Management Science, Working Group Labour Science and Organization. Her courses are in the field of management and leadership, soft skills, communication and team work. Dana Linkeschova has gained experiences as an expert of the European Commission as well as as a scout leader and as firewalker in her self development seminars.

The event was live streamed on Facebook and can still be seen: please access our Facebook Website.

You can also listen to Dana Linkechova in our AlumniAudio Lab . The Alumni AudioLab is a monthly podcast series where alumni of the OeAD talk about themselves and their research.

After the event a short getting to know activity was organized so that the scholarship holders could get to know each other more easily. The event closed with food and drinks and everybody had the opportunity to engage in discussions and cordial conversations. Almost 80 participants listened to the information presented for new grantees and enjoyed the interesting presentation.
