The open-access journal "Sensors" collects papers that address the intersections of Citizen Science, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Human intelligence, IoT, and artificial intelligence each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Machines are effective and efficient at discovering tacit knowledge or hidden patterns in big data. Humans, on the other hand, are good at performing cognitive analysis, drawing conclusions, and making instinctive judgments by considering dynamic and diverse factors. Humans and machines need not compete or replace each other, but rather the strengths of human and artificial intelligence should be combined, thereby mitigating their respective weaknesses.
In particular, papers are sought on human-machine collaboration in data collection, modeling, and analysis of a wide range of crowd-sourced and Internet-based information applications.
