The 7th Austrian Citizen Science Conference will take place from June 28 - 30, 2022 in Vorarlberg, in the four-country corner Austria-Switzerland-Liechtenstein-Germany. This year, the conference will focus on the question "Citizen Science - Why (actually) not?". The OeAD Center for Citizen Science will focus on the collaboration between science and schools. In four contributions, opportunities and challenges of Citizen Science projects with schools will be highlighted and discussed from different perspectives.

On the first day of the conference, there will be a workshop of the WG "Citizen Science at/with schools", where the brochure "Citizen Science - Forschen mit Schulen" (Citizen Science - Research with schools), which was worked on by the WG and published last year, will be subjected to a reality check. Through discussion in large as well as small groups, the chapters will be analyzed together. The feedback gained will serve as a basis for further development and improvement of the brochure. Were important aspects overlooked? Where can additions be made?

On the second day, teacher Gudrun Heinzelreiter-Wallner (HLW in Freistadt) and researcher Birgit Sattler (University of Innsbruck) will talk about their experiences with Citizen Science in schools in two presentations. What added value do schools, teachers and students get from working with researchers? How can they integrate Citizen Science into the school curriculum? On the other hand, what motivates scientists to work with schools? What do researchers gain from the collaboration of school classes? Why do they take on the coordination effort with numerous challenges?

The contributions will be rounded out by a booth at the marketplace on Thursday, June 30, the last day of the conference. The brochure "Citizen Science - Researching with Schools" will be presented at the market stand. In addition to helpful tips, there will be a printed copy for visitors to take home!
