As of 2022 two strong players in Austrian education will join forces: _erinnern.at_, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF)’s Holocaust Education Institute, will be integrated into the OeAD.

To pave the way for a future joint commitment to Austrian remembrance education the transfer agreement for the institutional merger was solemnly signed at the OeAD on 4 November 2021. _erinnern.at_ was founded in 2000 as an association of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and is one of Austria’s leading organisations for historical-political education in the areas of National Socialism, the Holocaust and anti-Semitism. _erinnern.at_ supports the transfer of historical and methodological-didactic knowledge into educational practice as well as the reflection of the causes and consequences of the Holocaust for the present. In order to strengthen and secure remembrance education and _erinnern.at_’s important work in the long run through a permanent place in the Austrian education system _erinnern.at_ will be integrated into the OeAD in 2022. In the future it will thus be the programme for teaching and learning about National Socialism and the Holocaust implemented by the OeAD – Agency for Education and Internationalisation. With _erinnern.at_’s expertise new approaches to the teaching of remembrance culture will be created and further developed at the OeAD in order to introduce the important topic of Holocaust education to a broad target group.

On 4 November 2021 _erinnern.at_ celebrated its 20th anniversary with the presentation of a commemorative publication in the audience hall of the Ministry of Education, Science and Research. This publication took a look at the experiences, insights and commitment of _erinnern.at_ since its inception. Following this ceremonial retrospective _erinnern.at_ and the OeAD looked to an equally successful common future: The chairwoman of _erinnern.at_, Martina Maschke, and the OeAD’s managing director, Jakob Calice, solemnly signed the transfer agreement of institutional integration. _erinnern.at_ was thus officially welcomed to the OeAD.

We, the OeAD, are looking forward to future cooperation with _erinnern.at_ and to using the joint synergies for Austrian Holocaust Education!
