Food waste, food sharing, eco-technologies or the waste management of a metropolis – students from Austria, Georgia, Denmark and the Ukraine dealt with these topics during the third International school of Multimedia Journalism (ISMJ), which took place in Vienna for one week in February.
The project week, which is hosted by the Department for Journalism and Media Management at FHWien of WKW and the UCU School of Journalism Lviv twice a year, had the topic ecology. At Lectures from the MA 22 the environmental department of the citry of Vienna and from the Austrian Institute of Ecology the students gained an insight into the current ecological emphasis in Austria. Further more the students got the chance to join excursions to the newsroom of the newspaper "Der Standard" as well as a guided tour through the cityhall of Vienna.
With the support of their lecturers the students worked and discussed In their project works questions like: How can we avoid food waste, which technologies can save planet earth or which measures exist in Austria and other countries to prevent waste? The International School of Multimedia Journalism was launched by the OeAD-cooperation office Lviv in 2015. Each year one project week takes place in Vienna and one in Lviv. The aim is to connect students and to foster a mutual understanding of the media systems of the participating countries. The joint programme is realized with financial support from the BMWFW, the BMEIA, the OeAD-GmbH, the city of Vienna and the Rotary Club Prinz Eugen Vienna. The next International School will take place in Lemberg in July 2017.
