Against the backdrop of digitization, the challenges of science communication will be addressed before discussing what is meant by Citizen Science, how different formats can be characterized and how Citizen Science fits into the context of science communication. In addition, individual Citizen Science formats will be briefly presented.

In a second presentation, Marika Cieslinski and Walburg Steurer, staff members at the OeAD Center for Citizen Science, will show points of connection to Austria.
