Highly endowed ERC starting grants to 17 researchers from Austria

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded highly endowed "Starting Grants" to 17 researchers working in Austria.

In this application round, a total of 408 early career researchers will receive an award for five-year basic research projects, each endowed with an average of around 1.5 million euros, the ERC announced on Tuesday.

In Austria, most "Starting Grants" went to researchers from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) (4), followed by the University of Vienna, the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg (Lower Austria) (3 each) and the Technical University (TU) Graz (2). One award each goes to the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz, the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the Montanuniversität Leoben, the University of Salzburg and the Medical University of Graz.
