From 24 January to 13 May 2022 the Architekturtage, Austria’s largest public event for architecture and building culture, together with the national education agency OeAD, are organising a video competition for children and young people as well as pupils throughout Austria – the topic is “My ideal place of learning”. It is worth taking part – cinema tickets, guided tours and workshops will be given away in a prize draw among all submissions.

“Especially in times of corona places and opportunities for learning are more important than ever, of course also outside of school. We want to know from children and young people: Where and how do you like to learn?”, says Verena Konrad, director of the Vorarlberg Architecture Institute and spokesperson for the Architecture Days.

The OeAD’s managing director Jakob Calice says: “There are no limits to creativity and imagination in the short films. A mobile phone or video camera is all you need to get started! If a school wants to invite experts we can provide financial support for this.” The learning environment presented in the films can be real or fictitious.

Applications for the video competition can be submitted between 24 January to 13 May 2022

Individuals as well as groups or school classes can submit videos. Children, young people and pupils up to the age of 19 are eligible to take part. The maximum duration of the videos is 3 minutes.

The OeAD offers support to all pupils within the framework of the “Kultur:Bildung” initiative – experts from film, architecture, design, etc. can be invited to the schools (in person and/or online) and help with the search for ideas and the production. Further information is available at: www.oead.at/kulturbildung

All submissions will enter a prize draw; you can win cinema tickets, backstage tours (in the areas of cinema, film and radio) and workshops (video and video production). Moreover, selected videos will be presented on the Architekturtage website and the Architekturtage YouTube channel and presented in a short film at the end of the Architekturtage in June 2022.
