The first editor is the Director General of the NHM Vienna, Dr. Katrin Vohland. The publication was developed within the framework of the COST Action "Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy, and innovation throughout Europe". This is a European research network of scientists, practitioners and actors from different organisations, who examined the Citizen Science topic from various perspectives at workshops, meetings, etc. and compiled the results in "The Science of Citizen Science".
