The Carinthia University of Applied Sciences will offer a new master programme "Applied Data Science". The program will start during the winter semester of 2021/22.

National and international companies are looking for so-called data scientists who can generate relevant information from large amounts of data and derive recommendations from it, with the support of technical aids and the application of theoretical procedures.

The master's programme was developed in close cooperation with companies and institutions such as Fraunhofer Austria Research, Infineon Technologies Austria, Kabeg, KAI Kompetenzzentrum, Kelag, Silicon Austria Labs and Stadtwerke Klagenfurt. Therefore, this English-language master's programme will combine sound education and a strong application orientation.

The programme contents range from the efficient collection, transmission, and storage of data to the evaluation and subsequent visualization of the knowledge gained. This knowledge is enriched by knowledge of the legal and ethical framework.

The curriculum relies on modern teaching methods such as blended and project-based learning, comprises 120 ECTS credits and lasts four semesters, including the master's thesis. A total of 16 study places are available in the winter semester 2021/22.
