Austria was represented at the NAFSA 2019 with a booth where 20 participants from Austrian higher education institutions provided information about the latest trends in internationalisation, met their cooperation partners or initiated new agreements. Under the motto “Highlight your future. Study in Austria” the fair booth provided information about Austria as a location for studying and at the same time served as a meeting point for representatives of the Austrian higher education institutions. Together with the OSTA (Office of Science and Technology Austria), Fulbright Austria und Advantage Austria the OeAD hosted an Austrian reception at the education fair where Austrian NAFSA participants and numerous international partners met at the Austrian Embassy in Washington.
The main topic of the NAFSA 2019 was “Global Leadership, Learning, and Change”. The Former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright und General Colin L. Powell opened the conference. NAFSA is one of the biggest higher education fairs in the world. More than 10,000 participants from 3,500 institutions from more than 100 countries were present in Washington D.C. in 2019. The NAFSA 2020 will take place in St Louis, Missouri from May 24th to 29th.
