All the texts by young female researchers collected in this book were written before the unprecedented food crisis, which has been massively exacerbated by the consequences of Covid-19, the brutal war of aggression in Ukraine and the exorbitant price increases associated with it, especially in countries of the Global South. The current multiple crises point to structural failures and systemic misdevelopments not only in the world food system but also in the fundamental relationship between industrialised countries and less and least developed countries. The contributions address these failures and structural deficits that currently lead to violence, deprivation, migration and hunger – and at the same time offer solution-oriented alternatives. The search for sustainable options for action in a vulnerable and fragmented world makes it clear how important a binding juridification of forms of coexistence and economic activity that are not based on the exploitation of nature and people is. These aspects of decolonised language, culture and law are also explored in depth in the anthology, which contains high-quality submissions for the Young Scientists Award for Development Research 2019 and 2021.
