The European FairiCUBE project is investigating the effects of climate change on biodiversity. Environmental adaptations can be studied particularly well using fruit flies, which occur worldwide. Vienna has diverse habitats, making the city ideal for learning more about these flies and their occurrence.
The project is therefore calling on Viennese from the city centre and outlying districts to collect flies in their own homes between May and October and make them available for genetic analysis. Interested parties can register using this form and receive further information on the procedure. There will also be an information event at the Natural History Museum Vienna, where the Citizen Scientists will receive the catching aids for their homes and their use will be explained.
