2 min read · 25. May 2022

APPEAR, the higher education cooperation programme funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation, started in 2010. To date, 43 academic partnerships in a total of 20 countries have been realized and more than 120 students have completed a master’s or PhD degree at an Austrian university. The third phase of APPEAR started last year with a duration of 7 years until the end of 2027. The cooperation between the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) - as the funding agency - and Austria's Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD) - as the implementing institution - has proven to be very effective over all these years.

Since 2020, Covid-19 has prevented the realization of many plans; also, the APPEAR anniversary celebration planned for 2020 to mark the tenth anniversary of APPEAR had to be postponed. This summer, however, the time has come. On 28 June 2022, we will celebrate the APPEAR 10+2 anniversary with our funding agency, partners from development cooperation, science, and public administration, as well as with our project staff and scholarship holders.

The programme for the evening, framed by music, will cover central aspects of APPEAR, including the presentation of the new book on the projects of the second phase of APPEAR. Afterwards, a festive reception will take place, inviting guests in a relaxed atmosphere to get to know each other, to discuss and exchange experiences and also - above all - to celebrate.
