To effectively foster refugee integration in higher education and society, a holistic approach involving all levels of higher education institutions and society is needed.

On the occasion of World Refugee Day, we would like to draw attention to the current situation of refugees in higher education, specifically in Austria. Even though numerous refugees have not only successfully completed compulsory education, but also pursued higher education, they are rarely associated with higher education in the first place.
