The Marietta Blau Grant offers financial support for six- to twelve-month stays abroad for highly qualified doctoral or PhD students at Austrian universities. Marietta Blau-Grants of the Austrian Centres
The Marietta Blau-Grants of the Austrian Centres of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Education and Research (BMBWF) support a research stay of doctoral students throughout the academic year as part of their dissertation at an institute of the following Centres Austria: Minnesota, Jerusalem and New Orleans for the fields of social sciences and humanities and Alberta/Edmonton additionally for the Arts.

Central/Eastern Europe
The "Aktionen" between Austria and the neighbouring countries Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic enable scientific exchange of students and researchers of Austrian universities between the neighbouring countries. Several closing dates per year, depending on the specific programme.
The Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies (CEEPUS) enables study and research stays at higher education institutions in CEEPUS member countries. Application through CEEPUS website.

Research stays in Taiwan are possible through Scholarships for scientific stays at Taiwanese universities (traditional degree (diploma degree) students or master’s students) and Scholarships for scientific stays at Taiwanese universities (doctoral students, lecturers, researchers)

Fully funded Programmes
With the aim of offering Austrian students the opportunity of a postgraduate European education and increasing the proportion of Austrians who work in European institutions, the Federal Chancellery awards three scholarships per year for study places at the College of Europe in Bruges and Natolin as well as full funding for the new Tirana Campus. As part of an agreement with the Federal Chancellery, the OeAD is responsible for allocating funding for the study places. The Doctoral Grant for the Euopean University Institute (EUI) is targeted at highly qualified postgraduates who wish to pursue a doctoral programme in one of the following departments at the EUI in Florence: history and cultural history, economic sciences (political economy), legal studies, political and social sciences. LL.M programmes are not supported.
