The Austrian Breeding Bird Atlas comprehensively documents the occurrence of breeding birds in Austria. The data was collected by citizen scientists.

BirdLife Austria, the Austrian Federal Forests and the Ministry for Climate Protection present the new standard work of ornithology. On 680 pages, the breeding bird atlas presents the distribution of all 235 bird species that bred in Austria in the period 2013-2018 and compares these results with the first Austrian breeding bird atlas (1981-1985).

The data was collected in the form of citizen science, mainly via the online reporting platform ornitho.at. More than 2,300 volunteers collected more than 2.1 million data records in six years.

More information and a podcast episode on the breeding bird atlas can be found on the BirdLife Austria website (in German).
