Citizen Science and the Resources Nexus for Sustainable Development

The nexus approach to environmental resource management focuses on the linkages between different sectors, typically energy, water and food, but is now often extended to other components such as air, land use, climate and health. The emphasis is on an integrated and coordinated approach to managing resources to improve sustainability, recognizing that actions in one sector often have significant impacts on others.

The thematic collection “Citizen Scence and the Resources Nexus for Sustainable Development” seeks contributions that demonstrate the transformative potential of participatory practices in addressing sustainability challenges within the sustainability nexus, which explores linkages, synergies and trade-offs between different sectors. Topics of interest include case studies, best practices, applications of citizen science and other forms of participatory research to foster innovation in the agri-food sector, or methods and frameworks for integrating citizen science into traditional scientific approaches to improve the outcomes of the sustainability nexus.
