In the so far last call for proposals for European Universities the European Commission has selected 14 new alliances, including ‘ACE2EU – Applied, Connected, Entrepreneurial and Engaged – European University’ with the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences as a partner.
In total, the European Commission supports 64 European University Alliances with more than 560 higher education institutions and a funding amount of up to 14.4 million euros each. It is very encouraging to see that Austrian higher education institutions act as coordinators in two European Universities and as partners in a further 15 alliances, thus actively participating in 27% of the funded alliances.
In the second part of the call on the topic of ‘European Universities – Community of Practice’ a network of European Universities was sought that would strengthen peer learning between alliances and promote the dissemination of results and models throughout the higher education sector. 17 higher education institutions are actively involved in the ‘FOR-EU4ALL – FORum of European Universities for All’ network. Each of these higher education institutions also represents its own alliance in the project. The University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, for example, supports the network as the coordinator of the European University ‘E³UDRES² – Engaged and Entrepreneurial European University as Driver for European Smart and Sustainable Regions’. The remaining 47 European University Alliances – including the new ones – are associated partners of the network, as are the ESU (European Students' Union), ESN (Erasmus Student Network), European University Association (EUA), Eurashe (European Association of Institutions in Higher Education) and ENQA (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education).
