Visual climate communication
The Science Center Network is dedicating an online network meeting to the topic of “visual climate communication”. Images in particular can draw attention to the climate crisis and appeal directly to people through emotions. All too often, however, we come across familiar motifs on this topic - again and again we encounter sad polar bears, melting glaciers, flooded houses, burning forests and parched soils.
The webinar explores the questions of where this well-known “iconography of climate change” comes from, how visual language works, why visual communication of the climate crisis is so challenging, but also how it can succeed.
