Erhard Busek Grant
Please note that the selection of potential scholarship recipients is carried out exclusively by the respective higher education institutions. Direct applications to the OeAD are not possible.
The Erhard Busek Grant aims to enable highly qualified students from non-European developing countries to complete a full two-year Master’s programme in Austria. The excellence scholarship supports outstanding students, particularly in STEM or English-taught Master’s programmes.
Target group: Graduates of a Bachelor’s degree who wish to pursue a two-year Master’s programme in Austria and whose degree was obtained at a higher education institution in a non-European developing country; scholarships are awarded only to students who can provide proof of an unrestricted admission to the relevant Master’s programme.

Type of funding: Funding for a Master’s programme in Austria | Support for the entire study programme
Duration: 24 months
Funding: 1,300 euro monthly scholarship rate + one-time travel allowance of up to 1,200 euro
Age limit: 35 years
Application and selection process
Higher education institutions apply to the OeAD for the designated scholarship places for an Erhard Busek Scholarship as part of a formal expression of interest. They confirm that the academic and organisational support of the students at the higher education institution is guaranteed. A selection committee from the BMBWF and the OeAD decides on the allocation of scholarship places (Phase I).
Submission deadline for declaration of interest (for higher education institutions): 15.12.2024
On the basis of the allocated quota, the higher education institutions then select the best-qualified candidates from among those students who have been admitted to a relevant Master's programme with unrestricted admission and nominate them for the Erhard Busek Grant. The students then apply to the OeAD to receive this scholarship. After a final review of the formal requirements of the applications received, the scholarships are awarded. (Phase II)
Tuition fees are not covered by the scholarship. Erhard Busek Grant recipients are are exempted from these fees by the admitting higher education institution.
