Chiara Wang (University of Klagenfurt) presented the project “Relevance of mathematics teaching”, which is researching attitudes in this regard. This project relies on the expertise of pupils as citizen scientists to collect and evaluate data. The aim is to identify phenomena and generate explanations for which there is still little basis in current research. The results will be incorporated into concepts for lesson design that are intended to increase student motivation.
Rebecca Weckenmann (University of Innsbruck) presented the project “Multilingual Spaces: Exploring and transforming multilingual spaces”. Together with prospective and current elementary teachers, the project is researching how they can support children in their language education and multilingualism. The project aims to produce new scientific findings as well as recommendations and further training concepts.
The recording of the presentations is available to watch on YouTube. The Sparkling Science Spotlights will continue from March 2025.
