Contents of the lectureship programme

Teaching activities amounting to 12-14 hours per week each semester in the general subjects of "Language teaching", "Regional studies", "Literature and cultural history" depending on the agreement with the host department and within the framework of the study programmes at the host department
Carrying out research work of your own or other forms of relevant further education activities besides teaching and examination activities at the host university
Advising students at the host department on opportunities for study, research and cooperation in Austria
Planning, organising and participating in cultural and academic events related to Austria at the host location to convey a contemporary image of Austria in all its facets. This is done in coordination with the Austrian embassies, cultural forums and Austrian libraries and other local partners in order to utilise their experience and contacts.

The maximum duration of a lectureship is 5 years.
A change of location within an OeAD funding contract is possible provided that you have worked at least two years at a host university and it is possible to work at least two years at another host university.
Reapplication is possible provided that you still meet the application requirements and have not yet spent five years at host universities abroad as an OeAD lecturer.

Promotion of the German language in German studies at universities abroad
Conveying Austrian culture and current academic research in Austria on an international level
Encouraging graduates of humanities and cultural studies to gain further academic qualifications, with particular emphasis on intercultural encounters
With currently around 80 locations worldwide this programme offers participants the opportunity to gain educational work experience at an international university level,
enables you to carry out academic research projects,
contributes to enhancing foreign language skills,
enables effective and sustainable interaction with different cultures and education systems.
OeAD lectureships take place at departments of German language and of foreign languages.
