2 min read · 13. May 2024

Ursula Gärtner and Sally Baumann (University of Graz) from the Sparkling Science project ‘LIDAL - Latin inscriptions for digital and extracurricular learning’ and Sebastian Goreth (University of Teacher Education Tyrol) from ‘DIGIdat - Digital data analysis on indoor air quality meets education for sustainable development’ gave an insight into their research content and collaboration with pupils as citizen scientists on 8 May 2024.

Lessons learned

Ursula Gärtner emphasised that good scheduling and clear communication channels were crucial for good cooperation with the schools. The use of a project coordinator was an ideal solution to keep all project participants in good dialogue and to cover the high coordination effort.

Sebastian Goreth explained that it was easy to integrate the research topic into STEM lessons at secondary level 1. This made collaboration with the schools much easier. The workshops with experts were also particularly popular with the pupils involved in the research.

More information from the projects, lessons learnt and tips can be found in the recording.

Next spotlight
