In the European project, young people and scientists conducted research on citizen science in the social sciences.

While citizen science is often first associated with research topics from the natural sciences, these approaches can also be used in the social sciences and are suitable for various research questions. The Citizen Social Science project "YouCount" was funded by the EU's Horizon 2020 program from 2021 to 2023. Citizen science methods were used to investigate which factors contribute to the social inclusion of young people, focusing on the participation of young people in the research itself.

The project results were compiled in a recently published handbook with a toolkit designed to support researchers and interested parties in investigating social science issues using citizen science.

Further information and the documents are available for download on the project website.
