Science Communication Day in Klosterneuburg

The Science Communication Day is dedicated to the question of how scientific techniques, processes and findings can be communicated to a broad audience. One of the major challenges of science communication is to convey that science is not a collection of facts, but a collection of techniques that together enable knowledge to be gained. On the one hand, it is important to counteract false assumptions, skepticism about science and mistrust in researchers, and on the other hand, to counter uncritical glorification of scientists and their findings, as well as to point out dividing lines between science and pseudoscience.

These and other topics will be discussed by Carl Zimmer (New York Times), Sara K. Yeo (The University of Utah), Elke Ziegler (Ö1, ORF), Alena Buyx (German Ethics Council and TU Munich), Christine Marizzi (BioBus Inc., New York City) and Mariano Zafra (El País).
