STEM Congress in Leoben

The OeAD presents its initiatives for science education at the STEM Congress
2 min read · 26. February 2025

Knowledge transfer, science communication, sustainability, green jobs, green transition and green chemistry are just some of the topics that are highlighted at the STEM Congress. The STEM community from the fields of business, education and research will meet in Leoben from February 25 to 27, 2025. The congress was ceremonially opened by Federal Minister Martin Polaschek and is unique in its claim to heterogeneity: teachers are represented as speakers, on the podium and in the audience, as well as business people and people from science and research. The congress is not only intended to provide further training and networking opportunities, but also to open up new perspectives for participants and provide insights into the fields of work of other professional groups.

A pleasing result for the OeAD is that many of the speakers and workshop leaders are representatives of the OeAD's science education programs. No wonder - 63% of the science ambassadors, 32 of the 61 projects of the citizen science funding program “Sparkling Science 2.0” and 75% of all projects participating in the Citizen Science Award are from the STEM field. The OeAD will be presenting its comprehensive STEM education programs at the congress.

The 14 STEM regions will also be represented, exchanging ideas in specially organized workshops on topics such as “Developing STEM regions”, “Sharing STEM concepts” and “Do's and Dont's”.
