Citizen Science Award 2024 was a great success

The Citizen Science Award 2024 was extremely successful: more than 2,900 Citizen Scientists supported the eight projects with over 46,000 research contributions during the co-research period from April 1 to July 31 and gained deep insights into the world of science and research! The Citizen Science Award 2025 would like to build on this success and once again offer committed citizen scientists a wide range of research projects to participate in.

Submission deadline for 2025 extended!

Current Citizen Science projects can currently apply to take part in 2025. The Citizen Science Award is open to projects from all fields of research: In addition to projects from the natural sciences and technology, social science and humanities projects and projects involving primary schools are particularly welcome.

The submission deadline has been extended until Monday, November 18, 2024.

Registration is possible via an online form. Further information and the conditions of participation can be found HERE.

What happens after project submission?

Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) and the OeAD will select suitable projects from all submissions for participation in the Citizen Science Award 2025. The aim is to offer the broadest possible range of research projects from different disciplines that enable different forms of engagement. The selected projects will be notified at the beginning of December 2024.

From April 1 to July 31, 2025, school classes, youth groups, families and all interested persons will once again be able to participate in the research projects selected. The most committed Citizen Scientists will be honored at a ceremony at the Young Science Congress in autumn 2025.
