The Vienna University of Technology, which has promoted cooperation with Japanese researchers through the Japan Austria Science Exchange Center (JASEC) since 2015, hosted the event. The OeAD presented its comprehensive funding programmes and services to support scientific cooperation between Austria and Japan. Other important funding institutions, such as the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), also presented their funding programmes.

The event was aimed at scientists from a variety of disciplines, including computer sciences, physics, chemistry, architecture, urban planning, sociology, Japanese studies, psychology and art. Higher education institutions from all over Austria were present, including the Vienna University of Technology, the University of Vienna, the Graz University of Technology, the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU).

The ‘Japanese Science Day’ marked a significant step towards intensifying scientific exchange and cooperation between Austrian and Japanese higher education institutions.
