Strong involvement of OeAD alumni in the programme “Cooperation Development Research“

The OeAD-GmbH is pleased that several former OeAD scholarship holders were successful in the first Call of the programme "Cooperation Development Research". This clearly indicates the relevance of scholarship programmes in long-lasting academic cooperation.

Within the new programme "Cooperation Development Research" (financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research) cooperation projects between Austrian higher education institutions/research institutions and institutions in countries of the Global South are supported. Many applications were submitted in the first call for applications in the autumn of 2019. 14 out of 107 applications have been selected and will be supported with an overall budget of 500,000 euros. Former OeAD scholars are involved in the following selected projects:

1. Towards a Semantic Knowledge-Based Question Answering System for Vietnamese Tourism

The project coordinator is the School of Information and Communication Technology, Hanoi, Vietnam; among the project participants is the former OeAD scholar Ba-Lam DO. The project partner is the University of Technology, Vienna; participating former OeAD scholars are Fajar EKAPUTRA and Peb ARYAN. Read more

2. Phytocosmetics: Pyhtochemical Screening and Cosmetological Evaluation of the Medicinal Plants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan and Innsbruck

3. Searching for Potential Therapeutic Agents for Managing Diabetic Wounds from Vietnamese Medicinal Plants Targeting Matrix Metalloproteinase-9

The project coordinator is the University of Innsbruck; the project partner is the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, among the project participants is the former OeAD scholar TRAN THI Van Anh.

4. Promotion of an Innovative and Green Slope Protection System (GreenPro)

The project coordinator is Tribhuvan University, Nepal; among the project participants is the former OeAD scholar Madhu Sudan ACHARYA. The project partner is the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. Read more

All of these projects contribute to the analysis and solution of local challenges as well as to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015.
