The managing director Calice exchanged views with the Ukrainian ambassador Khymynets on ways to intensify scientific and educational cooperation with Ukraine.
“Right now it is important to build bridges between Austria and Ukraine, and scientific and educational cooperation play an important role in this,” emphasised ambassador Khymynets and thanked the OeAD for its commitment to supporting Ukraine.
The OeAD implements a wide range of measures to support Ukraine in science and education on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF). These include offers for Ukrainian refugees in Austria, such as the BMBWF’s new scholarship programme, and advice on study and the law relating to aliens. Through its two cooperation offices in L’viv and Odesa the OeAD also supports cooperation with a broad network of educational institutions in Ukraine. The focus of the OeAD Cooperation Office L’viv is on supporting scientific cooperation between Ukrainian and Austrian higher education institutions. The OeAD Cooperation Office Odesa, currently operating from Ushhorod, has been implementing projects to support Ukrainian educational institutions in the current crisis situation since the beginning of the war. For example, approximately 3,000 teachers will be trained in crisis intervention and psychosocial support for pupils by the end of 2022.
