Webinar: „Learning from mistakes: failures in citizen science”

WebinarCitizen Science

On November 16, 2022, the OeAD Center for Citizen Science will organise a webinar together with ECSA and Austrian research institutions on citizen science fails.

Failures are an immanent part of academic processes driving research progress. Therefore, they are also present in citizen science projects. Still the research community tends to highlight the successes while willingly omitting the mistakes and thus, withholding important information from their peers.

During this interactive webinar the speakers will present results from a conference workshop, during which participants discussed their experience of failures in citizen science projects and proposed anti-fail tips to enhance processes in the future. With this webinar, the speakers want to encourage an open exchange and thereby contribute to the establishment of an error culture in Citizen Science.

When? 16 November 2022, 4:00-5:15 pm

Contributors: Marika Cieslinski (OeAD Center for Citizen Science), Marlene Ernst (University of Salzburg), Didone Frigerio (University of Vienna), Barbara Heinisch (University of Vienna), Thomas Hübner (ZAMG), Johannes Rüdisser (University of Innsbruck) and Florian Westreicher (University of Innsbruck).
