When the student wanted to withdraw his article, the publisher asked for high fees. Another student from India reported about dubious publishers in his home country. 47 students from 22 different countries will join the IST this summer for their ISTernships. The OeAD is happy to welcome the highest number of ISTernship scholarship holders for 2021. Since 2015 the OeAD has been running the ISTernship summer program on behalf of IST Austria in Klosterneuburg. The ISTernship (“IST-” + “(int)ernship“) is a summer internship program for outstanding bachelor’s and master’s [...] master’s students who are looking to expand their scientific research experience. The competition to get a scholarship for an ISTernship is always very high. Even if the number of countries has been reduced in 2021, there were still 692 applications received, out of which 619 were complete. In the end, only 28 persons have been selected to join one of the research groups on the IST Campus. The student from Egerton University (Kenya) gives insights into how her Erasmus+ traineeship at BOKU opened up opportunities and supported institutional partnership. Priscilla Wangari Muriithi is a doctoral student in Limnology at Egerton University, Kenya. In cooperation with the project Uni-Freunde the OeAD organised an online networking meeting on the situation of Ukrainian students and researchers on 25 March. 87 representatives of Austrian higher education institutions and also of the UNHCR, aid organisations, students and experts attended the meeting.
