The range of topics for the new Citizen Science Award projects is broad and offers a variety of opportunities for participation: Citizen scientists from Austria can transcribe dialect words, document plastic pollution of agricultural soils and in high mountains, measure particulate matter pollution on the way to school, research and evaluate science communication for schoolchildren, create an online memorial book, research and improve (small) urban spaces, and critically analyse social media profiles of health influencers.
NEW: In 2023, for the first time, families can participate in research and win in their own category! A family is defined as at least two people from two generations of a family. Parents with their children, grandparents with their grandchildren, or aunts and uncles with their nieces and nephews can participate. Five of the eight projects are suitable for families and individuals; school classes can participate in all eight projects.
The most committed citizen scientists will be awarded at the 2nd Young Science Congress on October 19, 2023 in cooperation with ISTA in Klosterneuburg during a festive ceremony.
