ECO NET

The implementation of ECO NET (2001 until 2013) with the aim of supporting practice-oriented commercial education in South Eastern Europe. To this end, the training firm model is an ideal instrument. The Implementation has been successfully completed in Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia and Romania, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldavia, Montenegro and in Serbia.

Training Firms (TF)

A training firm is an innovative form of instruction which promotes practice orientation and entrepreneurial thinking to the greatest possible extent and makes the processes of real businesses transparent for the learning process. Working in a training firm promotes the ability to work in a team as well as autonomy, a sense of initiative, decision-making competence, flexibility and intercultural sensitivity, all of which are primary key qualifications in today’s business world. At over 60 pilot schools, teachers in the project countries were offered in-service training to qualify them as training firm managers. Up to now, some 1600 training firms have been established at over 330 schools. This project contributes to the development of curricula and handbooks and the establishment of central offices to strengthen national training firm networks, promote the training of multipliers, intensify cooperation with the business sector and organise national and international fairs. Central offices to strenghten national training firm networks have been established.

TF Fairs

Training firm fairs give the participating pupils and teachers an opportunity for contact and exchange with partner firms at home and abroad. National training firm fairs have been held in all 10 countries. Training firms from all the ECO NET countries have presented themselves at international fairs in Austria and South Eastern Europe.

Target Groups

Representatives of education ministries; in-service teacher trainers; managers of training firm centres; head teachers, teachers and pupils at the ECO NET pilot schools. A common homepage supports international networking.

Implementation

The project ECO NET was implemented by OeAD with funds provided by the Austrian Development Cooperation & Cooperation with Eastern Europe and the Federal Ministry of Education and Women's Affairs.

Die Übungsfirma ist eine innovative, praxisorientierte Unterrichtsmethode - das Modell eines Unternehmens, in dem die Abläufe eines realen Wirtschaftsbetriebes für den Lernprozess transparent gemacht werden. Die Arbeit in der Übungsfirma fördert Teamfähigkeit und Selbständigkeit, Eigeninitiative und Entscheidungsfreude, Flexibilität und interkulturelle Sensibilität. Dies sind die zentralen Schlüsselqualifikationen in der modernen Arbeitswelt.

An über 200 Schulen wurden bis 2012 Übungsfirmenleiter/innen ausgebildet, rund 1600 Übungsfirmen wurden bisher an über 330 Schulen gegründet. Das Projekt unterstützte die Entwicklung entsprechender Curricula und Handbücher, die Etablierung von Central Offices zur Stärkung nationaler Übungsfirmennetzwerke, die Ausbildung von Multiplikatorinnen und Multiplikatoren, die Kooperation mit der Wirtschaft und die Organisation von nationalen und internationalen Messen. Zur Stärkung nationaler und internationaler Übungsfirmennetzwerke wurden zentrale Central Offices (Service Center) etabliert.

Durchgeführt wurde das Projekt ECO NET vom OeAD mit Mitteln der Österreichischen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und des Bundesministeriums für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung. Vor Ort wurde das Projekt durch die jeweiligen österreichischen Beauftragten für Bildungskooperation geleitet.
