Hafte Mebrahten Tesfay finishes PhD study on agroforestry in Ethiopia

The research of our APPEAR scholar focused on ecosystem services of indigenous agroforestry systems in the southeastern Rift Valley, Ethiopia. He successfully defended his PhD at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna in early December 2020.

Summary at the end of the programme phase: More than 24,000 euros spent on climate protection

For more than five years APPEAR has been actively engaged in fighting climate change by supporting climate protection projects of the BOKU Competence Center for Climate Neutrality. During this period more than 24,000 euros have been spent on different initiatives in Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal and Costa Rica.

Publication about Community-Based Rehabilitation Services and Inclusive Development in Ethiopia

The INEDIS project in Ethiopia was finalised in June 2020. The efforts with regard to inclusive development in Ethiopian education institutions and awareness raising are ongoing and also manifest in publications, such as the present one. As this is an open access article it is accessible to everyone who wishes to learn more about a possible transition of CBR services to inclusive development, about practices and challenges of CBR in the Gedeo zone in Ethiopia.

Scholar Bernadette Yougbaré publishes research on characterization of cattle in Burkina Faso

The research was undertaken within the APPEAR project LoCaBreed that aims at improving the genetic disposition of the local cattle population to make it resistant against parasitic diseases. Bernadette contributed with her study on the morphometric characterization of purebred and crossbred Baoulé cattle in Burkina Faso.
