    APPEAR in practice_15: Transdisciplinary approaches for university-community cooperation

    Project partners from BOKU Vienna, Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), Tbilisi State University (TSU), and IMC FH Krems presented their project, its results and outcomes and the network they established in the Caucasus region. Furthermore, recent PhD graduate and APPEAR alumni Lela Khartishvili from Georgia and current APPEAR scholarship holder Tigran Keryan from Armenia introduced the recently published manual for university lecturers.

    APPEAR in practice_14: Energy access and transition to sustainability in cities

    In order to ensure access to affordable and sustainable energy for all it is crucial to focus on the growing energy demand in cities. SEA4cities developed the ESPM accessible online to support cities in developing countries plan and monitor the energy transition to sustainability, which was first tested in Dakar, Senegal. The SEA4cities ESPM aims to “trigger democratization in energy access and energy transition”.

    APPEAR in practice_13: Water, energy and food security in East Africa

    Grasping the water-energy-food security Nexus is a difficult task and requires close cooperation between disciplines as well as an understanding of the differing and even contradicting needs and demands of the people directly affected, while bearing in mind the potential effects on means of livelihoods and the environment on a larger scale. The APPEAR project CapNex has investigated the Nexus from various angles for the past three years. On 26th of September 2019 the project team presented their research and preliminary conclusions at OeAD in the framework of APPEAR in practice_13.

    Film Days 2018

    In collaboration with the Vienna-based film festival this human world, APPEAR organised an evening at the Top Kino Vienna. In this event, researchers of the APPEAR project ROOTDEVPAL in Palestine were invited as speakers for the discussion after the movie "The Judge".

    Partnerships between Austria and the South Caucasus: featuring APPEAR and Erasmus+

    There are many and various cooperations between Austrian higher education institutions (HEI) and partner institutions in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan - this was clearly visible during this forum entitled "Schwerpunktregion Kaukasus: Vertiefung und Good Practice mit Beispielen aus Erasmus+ und APPEAR", which took place during the OeAD and Erasmus+ HEI conference 2018 in November at FH Campus Wien.     APPEAR in practice_11: The art of mastering e-learning

    "We tend to forget that it is not that ‘e’ but the ‘human’ that is learning when we discuss the opportunities of digital learning", stated one of the speakers during the APPEAR in practice event on 28th of November. However, using these new technologies requires skills, knowledge and of course the respective infrastructure. Based on the lessons learnt from the SCARA project the societal impact of new technologies, accessibility to and adoption of new technologies were discussed.

    APPEAR in practice_10 recap

    It was no lecture that was given during APPEAR in practice_10, which took place on 23rd of October at OeAD. Rather, the floor was opened after short introductory statements and the majority of the time was allotted to a discussion with the audience of about 60. The format of the event did justice to its title “The art of achieving inclusive education”, and it reflected the considerate and transdisciplinary mode of collaboration of the INEDIS project partners featured that evening.
