The event presented key results from the ongoing GIRT project – Strengthening Research and Educational Competences of HEIs for Gender-sensitive Urban (InfoRmal Settlement) Transformation –, a collaboration between universities in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa University, Bahir Dar University and Mekelle University), Mozambique (Lúrio University) and Austria (University for Continuing Education Krems). The project Countering Violent Crime against Women and Girls in Georgia (COVIOCRIM) aims at building a professional network of “first responders” in order to effectively and sustainably address the challenges of violence against women and girls (VAWG) in Georgia. The project will implement interactive and interdisciplinary training programmes, expand academic qualification opportunities, and establish a Legal Clinic in Tbilisi to provide victims of VAWG with accessible and immediate support.
