Publication “Good Aquaculture Practices for Seed Production in Kenya”

Scholarship holder and PhD student Kevin Obiero co-authored this publication. The “Good Aquaculture Practices for Seed Production in Kenya” guidelines published in 2017 is the first guideline designed to help prospective and practicing hatchery managers and fish farmers to realize better production.

Centre for Research and Innovation in Social Work officially launched

On 24th February 2017, the new “East Africa Centre for Research and Innovation in Social Work“ (CRISOWO) was launched in the Ugandan capital city Kampala. It is the outcome of a bigger project on the promotion of professional social work in East Africa (PROSOWO), which is financed by the Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education and Research for Development (APPEAR).

Film Days 2016 | participation of PROSOWO project

In cooperation with the "this human world" film festival APPEAR screened the documentary "Unforgiven: Rwanda”. The film presented the process of forgiveness and reconciliation 20 years after the genocide in Rwanda and was followed by a discussion with our current scholarship holder Charles Rutikanga from the University of Rwanda and Helmut Spitzer from the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.

APPEAR project PEEB organised international conference

The International Engineering Conference IEC6 on Energy Efficient Buildings was organised by the PEEB project. More than 800 participants attended the conference. A comprehensive documentation of the conference has been compiled.

This year the film days "Wissen.Schafft.Entwicklung." were organised as a cooperation with two established film festivals in Vienna, namely the VIII. Central American Film Festival and the this human world Festival. In the framework of the cooperation with the this human world Festival the project partners from the APPEAR PROSOWO were invited to participate at the discussion.

Participation in the conference Tropentag 2016, Vienna

This year the Tropentag, a development-oriented and interdisciplinary conference, addressing issues such as resource management, environment, agriculture and poverty alleviation worldwide, was held in Vienna on 18-21 September 2016. Sara Kaweesa played a very active role in this conference.
