Community based rehabilitation workshop in Ethiopia

In the framework of the APPEAR project INEDIS, the project partners organised a workshop and invited citizens with various disabilities and their relatives from the Gedeo zone in Ethiopia. The training covered five important areas, namely: 1) Human Rights and Disabilities, 2) Social inclusion between PWD (persons with disabilities) and their parents, 3) Reflection on life experience by PWD in relation to their profession, 4) Vocational skill training and 5) Inclusive education for persons with disabilities.

First joint field study within the APPEAR project CapNex

Students and scientists from the Technical University of Kenya (TU-K), Makerere University and University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) visited the Sio-Malaba-Malakisi River Basin (SMMRB) in Western Kenya and Eastern Uganda for a joint scientific expedition.

STRECAFISH Team met for the second annual meeting in Eldoret, Kenya

Eldoret, “The city of champions”, in western Kenya was the venue for the second annual meeting within the STRECAFISH project. Team members from all of the four partner countries (Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Austria) came together in Sirikwa Hotel having a two days intensive conference from June 15th to June 16th, 2017.

The project Building Organic Agriculture in Armenia (BOAA) is off to an excellent start

BOAA is a higher-education based project developed in cooperation with the International Center for Agribusiness Research and Education (ICARE) in Yerevan, The Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU), and The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). Through this project it is their intention to be able to support the Armenian organic sector in closing the gap between farmers and science through the education and training of young professionals ready to enter the workforce.

Four Ugandan agricultural scientists within the APPEAR project AER explored Austrian organic farms

During two weeks in May 2017 a group of four Ugandan agricultural scientists from the Mountains of the Moon University from Western Uganda together with their partners from BOKU (Division of Organic Farming and the Centre for Development Research) went on excursion trough several areas in Austria to discover and experience the differences and similarities in the implementation of the principles of organic farming by organic farmers.
