  Workshop on Europass, Euraxess & the Higher Education System

  OeAD organised a workshop on Europass, Euraxess & the Higher Education System on 17 June 2016. Some participants were interviewed after the event and shared their views on the biggest differences in student life when comparing their home country and Austria or the meaning of “being mobile in Higher Education”.

  Participation in Summer School, Vienna, July 2016

  The summer school “Key Challenges in rural development: Bringing economics, management and social sciences into practice” took place in Vienna. Over the course of 2 months, Sony actively and successfully participated in the course programmes consisting of lectures, a field excursion, case study and practical work on development projects for rural communities.

  Film screening "Revolution with bare hands", May 2016

  This documentary commemorates the national uprising of October 2014 in Burkina Faso, which led to the overthrow of the president Blaise Compaoré. Different protagonists of the uprising are interviewed and symbolic places during the events were visited. The film was screened in the OeAD on 12 May 2016. In the following discussion Idrissa Kabore and Komandan Mano shared their experiences of the political struggle in Burkina Faso.

  Presentation at the African Utility Week, 17-19 May 2016

  The African Utility Week is the largest conference and trade exhibition for African power and water utility professionals and offers a unique networking opportunity for engineers, stakeholders and solution providers in the water and energy sector alike. It is held annually in Cape Town South Africa. Pauline made a presentation in the water and energy sectors, was part of a panel discussion on improving efficiencies in drinking water utilities by integrating water and energy planning.

  Education for Sustainable Development - Article in the OeAD news, October 2015

  The OeAD news, published by the OeAD, is a non-scientific quarterly print journal on (higher) education and internationalisation for the general public in Austria. On the occasion of the European Year for Development the edition in October 2015 focused on development and education. As a researcher in the UN global initiative - Sustainable Energy for All - Yillia was requested to comment on education for sustainable development.

  Creating transdisciplinary and transnational spaces of mutual learning and participative research is the interest of APPEAR. The programme has established 17 academic partnerships with institutions across Latin America, Africa and Asia since its inception in 2009. The recent APPEAR publication describes these examples of participative and transcultural knowledge production.
