APPEAR in practice_10 recap

It was no lecture that was given during APPEAR in practice_10, which took place on 23rd of October at OeAD. Rather, the floor was opened after short introductory statements and the majority of the time was allotted to a discussion with the audience of about 60. The format of the event did justice to its title “The art of achieving inclusive education”, and it reflected the considerate and transdisciplinary mode of collaboration of the INEDIS project partners featured that evening.

Workshop recap: How to maintain your wellbeing to be productive and to achieve your goals

When the semester starts students feel excited and have a lot of expectations. But they also have a huge workload and feel the time pressure. Pursuing academic work while also enjoying social life and looking after health and wellbeing is the key to achieving goals. This is why on the 5th of October we organised a workshop on how to find a good work-study-life balance. OeAD scholars learned coping mechanisms to deal with stress, time pressure and health issues. They tried out practical exercises for relaxation and strength. Moreover scholars had the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with fellow colleagues.

APPEAR in practice_10

APPEAR in practice invites project partners to reflect on and discuss their experiences referring to a specific topic in the project implementation process of their partnerships. This event is dedicated to inclusive education and some of the panellists are team members of the INEDIS project, a project that aims at strengthening capacity building at higher education institutions (HEIs) to facilitate inclusive education for students with disabilities at university level.

Scholarship holder participated in summer school "Rooting research in the Palestinian context"

For Hada it was an opportunity to witness participatory research by the research groups from Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon, as a method applied in different settings. The discussion contributed to her understanding of knowledge production practices at higher education institutions, which she is focusing on in her PhD research. It also added to her understanding of the importance of the critical stance in social science research. Hada also acted as an interpreter for the summer school participants.
