Salzburg celebrated its first city festival over three days in June. Around 60,000 visitors came to the city to take part in the varied programme and celebrate together under the motto ‘We build bridges!’. The ‘u3Green’ project took the opportunity to present its research findings and engage with the public. The pupils involved played a key role in the presentation, appearing on stage together with the research team led by Dr Sabine Hennig. This was a unique opportunity for the young citizen scientists to present their work and make their own perspectives visible!
In addition, a day of action was organised at the University of Salzburg at the end of the project, in which 150 pupils took part and discussed key findings on the use and perception of urban green spaces in Salzburg. The highlight of the event was an interdisciplinary panel discussion in which the pupils entered into direct dialogue with decision-makers from science, politics and urban planning. The exchange showed how great the young people's interest in the topic is and emphasised the importance of their perspectives for future urban development processes.
