Science ambassadors in schools

More than 600 researchers are already volunteering as science ambassadors, visiting schools and kindergartens throughout Austria. They organise interactive workshops, bring along illustrative material from their fields of research and answer questions from the children, who are thus introduced to research topics in a playful way. The initiative allows children to experience science first-hand.

Science ambassadors in schools

As a science ambassador, I go directly to where curious questions arise – into classrooms and “children's territory”. There, science can come to life as I share my everyday life as a researcher, become visible as the person behind the research, and inspire young people to discover and understand.
